ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: Clients arriving at or departing from airports are assisted by our representatives. SAFARI BRIEFING : On arrival, or later at the hotel, our representative will brief the clients on their safari itinerary, discuss DOS and DON'TS and answer any questions. FLIGHT RECONFIRMATION: Onward or return flights will be reconfirmed by our staff where necessary. ADDITIONAL SERVICES: In our office we are able to make any additional on the spot arrangements such as excursions, car hire, flights or hotel bookings. PLANNING A SAFARI: There are a number of different ways to plan a safari. The basic choices are: SCHEDULED SAFARIS - Join other people on a set itinerary. This can be a fully inclusive tour such as those set in our brochure, or can be tailor-made by adding selected excursions, safaris, hotel nights and transfers to make a complete tour. All of the tours featured in this brochure are offered as scheduled departures. The route and departure days are fixed and bookings are made on a seat-in vehicle basis. Travel by road, air or a combination of both. PRIVATE SAFARIS:- All the tours featured in the brochure may be booked on a private arrangement with exclusive use of the vehicle and a driver/guide. Clients may choose departure day and the published route may be varied as required. Alternatively, an itinerary may be specially designed with the guidance of our tour consultants. GROUPS - Our office will be pleased to prepare itineraries and price quotes according to your group's special requirements. Kenya , Uganda and Tanzania are not only desirable incentive and conference destinations, but also boast a wealth of special interest opportunities such as Ornithology, Geology, Fishing, Golf, Watersports, Climbing and many others. Group organisers often prefer to employ their own tour leaders, but where this is not the case, or if specialist local knowledge is required, we can provide professional tour leaders in addition to our normal driver/guides. Please note that it may not be possible to cover all the wonders of East Africa in one brochure, which is why we will be happy to discuss your holiday requirements in detail. If you are not sure of what you might like to do then give us a call or e-mail us and we will help you decide. Alternatively, if you already know your itinerary and dates of travel, then we can price your holiday within 24 hours. Although on occasion it may be necessary, with a more extensive tour, for us to request confirmation from airlines/overseas suppliers, etc. If there is a delay in the reply due to time differences overseas, we will call to advice you.
TRANSPORTVEHICLES used on safari are custom-built 9-seat safari buses specially strengthened. They have sliding windows and fitted with opening roof hatches for wildlife viewing and photography. On most scheduled safaris only 7 seats are used to guarantee each passenger a window seat and greater comfort. We also have 4WD's offering comfort and optimum enjoyment of the safari which are available on request. The baggage compartment has limited capacity and clients on safaris are asked to restrict themselves to one suitcase plus hand baggage. Cool-boxes can be put on board with a supply of drinks on request. DRIVERS/GUIDES - An expert driver/guide is in charge of each vehicle. He is responsible for the success of the safari and well-being of his clients. Great care is taken in selecting our driver/guides who must be fully trained in all aspects of wildlife and birds identification and behavior, general tourism studies and maintenance of vehicles. All driver/guides speak English with some speaking French, German or other languages available on request. AIR SCHEDULES SERVICE AND PRIVATE CHARTER: For air schedules services and private charters a wide range of aircraft are available offering access to airstrips not serviced by regular schedules flights. These flights, available between major towns, National Parks and Reserves offer the ultimate relaxed travel. This service is on seat basis. For more enquiries please contact our Nairobi Office. CAR-HIRE: As set out in our conditions for car-hire services, the driver must have a full and valid driving licence. An international driving permit is acceptable provided valid. Our office will offer any assistance needed. Vehicles available range from Toyota Corollas to Nissan Sunnys, the 4WD Suzuki Maruti, Land Rover Discovery and Mitsubishi Pajero. All are in prime condition. They offer the opportunity and freedom to move around the city and towns or embark on safari. ACCOMMODATIONHOTELS: East Africa offers plenty of excellent hotels which range from 5 Star hotels to the more affordable, still good quality hotels for the budget tourists. LODGES: The Lodges are noted for their exciting locations and imaginative architecture. Facilities usually include lounge, bar, dinning room and verandas overlooking a focal point such as a waterhole or river. Rooms are usually twin-bedded with private bath/shower and often in detached chalets or rondavels. Many lodges have swimming pools and a shop or boutique. TENTED LODGES: Similar to lodges but accommodation is in large permanently pitched tents, fully furnished, mosquito proofed and with private bathroom/shower attached. Dinning room, bar and lounge facilities are similar to lodges and many of the tented lodges have swimming pools. The tented lodges offer an interesting cross between a lodge and the more traditional tented camps. TENTED CAMPS: The tented camps are usually smaller and more intimate than the lodges and offer a wide variety of styles from simple to luxurious. All but the most basic provide spacious, furnished, twin-bedded tents, pitched on concrete or wooden bases with mosquito proofing and private bathroom or shower attached. The public areas are usually under canvas and meals al-fresco around the camp fire are a favourite amongst guests. GAME LOOK-OUT LODGES: These are more commonly known as "tree hotels", usually high above the ground in secluded forest glades overlooking wild water holes. Quite different in style they are usually designed to offer a unique and exciting game viewing experience as wildlife visit the floodlit waterhole oblivious to the close proximity of fascinated tourists within the lodge. FARMS AND RANCHES: Why not stay on one of Kenya's farms or ranches where wildlife often co-exists with domestic stock. Accommodation is in comfortable farm houses or log cabins with meals provided. Guests are usually hosted by the farm owners who also offer escorted walks, horse-riding, game drives or guided tours of the working farm. MEALS: Traditional fare on safari starts with early morning tea for the keen game viewers, followed by a choice of full or continental breakfast. Lunch is often a buffet style meal with hot dishes or cold table. Dinner can be 3 or 4 courses generally with a choice of dishes. Of these the soups, fish, seafoods, curries and cold tables based on local farm produce are particularly good. Coffee or tea will usually follow all meals. We at Lexinda Travels have a commitment to preserving the environment for the future generations to enjoy. The majestic frontiers of Africa are now opened up for tourism but the fragile ecology must be protected. Careful planning of each and every safari is essential with the delicate balance of enjoyment and conservation carefully maintained. We have pledged our commitment to continue our tradition of responsible tourism and ensure that many wonders of our very special world remain for others to enjoy.
